SHP specializes in automotive research, focusing on IC engine technology. We advance innovations in combustion to help manufacturers deliver better fuel efficiency and lower emissions, in order to achieve the standards of the future. We have patented ignition systems that enhance the performance and efficiency of spark ignited engines.

High Energy Spark Ignition

We use On-time energy transfer to generate a high energy spark which gives higher spark current and longer pulse duration. This  enables better combustion and higher engine efficiency. The technology is effective with multiple fuels like petrol, ethanol, CNG, LNG and Hydrogen that are used in spark ignited engines.

Features

On-time energy transfer from the coil enables spark plugs to operate with larger gaps than current systems. The current in positive and negative directions promotes electrode longevity.

Enhanced Capability

On-time ignition features multi-spark capability with variable pulse durations. This flexibility enables the system to deal with diverse engine conditions and promote better fuel efficiency. 

Experimental Validation

Combustion benefits observed in tests in static chambers and engine dynamometer tests at University labs and several automotive OEMs.

Nano-Pulse Spark Discharge

High frequency signals create a series of high-voltage breakdowns in the gas mixture that enhances ignition. The volumetric ionisation caused by the Nano-pulses promotes more complete combustion in the engine cycle.

Extra Effective Energy Transfer

The generation of plasma through repeated high speed pulses shortens the ignition delay and improves initiation of the combustion reaction in the gas mixture.

Lower heat loss

Capable of over 30 discharges per cycle with low heat loss. This gives ideal flame kernel and extends electrode life in the spark plug.

Visible Results

High speed camera footage shows the flame front advances further with nano-pulse ignition than with a conventional spark.
